UPDATE 4.6 Hero & Item Balance Changes

 Vainglory Update 4.6 is coming to you with a little something for everyone in changes to  heroes, items and talents. We’ve included notes with some of the changes to help you understand the logic behind the changes. Check out the balance changes coming for Update 4.6 below!

 


5V5 META


The Vain Crystal defenses were meant to discourage  backdooring the enemy base, but were so powerful that they sometimes dissuaded meaningful pushes unless the team had blackclaw or all team members present. We’re lowering the damage a bit so that it becomes a bit easier to close out games.

 

VAIN CRYSTAL

HALCYON MISSILES

  • Max Health Damage 
    • 7.5% → 4% per shot

HEROES


 

We’re giving a helping hand to captain Adagio and a small boost to his carry path as well with this little change.

ADAGIO

AGENT OF WRATH (B)

  • Empowered Attacks Granted
    • 4 / 4 / 4 / 4 / 6 → 6 / 6 / 6 / 6 / 8

The last round of changes heavily nerfed Anka’s killing potential to the point where she couldn’t really assassinate her targets. We’re restoring some of the damage to her Dance of Blades so she can still strike fear into the hearts of carries.

ANKA

SHIMMER BLADES (A)

  • The ability icon after landing Shimmer Blade on a target is now green for easier visibility.

DANCE OF BLADES (B)

  • Multi-hit Damage Reduction
    • 33% → 50%
  • Crystal Power Damage Ratio
    • 50% → 45%

A small change to make Baron less energy starved at early levels and make it easier for players to go towards his CP path.

  • Base Energy
    • 270 → 320

PORCUPINE MORTAR

  • Energy Cost Decreased
    • 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 → 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 / 65 

BLACKFEATHER

ROSE OFFENSIVE (C)

  • Focus Cost
    • 60 / 40 / 20 → 45 / 30 / 15

Late game Catherine with cooldown items became an unkillable front line for the team. This should make her shield a little more manageable to take down while giving a different incentive to overdrive it.

We’re highlighting Celeste’s role as an awesome zoning mage so we’re upping the reward for landing her supernovas.

A small quality of life change to help Idris keep up with the global movement speed changes.

IDRIS

CHAKRAM (B)

Joule proved to be a bit too strong after the recent batch of changes so we’re reverting the damage buff from before. We still want her to maintain her identity as an incredibly durable fighter but we’re toning her damage back down.

JOULE

Thunder Strike (B)

  • Weapon Power Damage Ratio
    • 220% → 200%

Leo is still proving to be too strong so we went ahead and lowered the damage on Crushing Strike even further.

LEO

Miho’s damage against Unguarded targets made her monstrously powerful in the late game. These changes should curb that slightly while also giving her more incentive to use her Shingetsu outside of just applying stacks of Keen Eye.

MIHO

  • Damage amplification against Unguarded targets
    • 20% → 15%

SHINGETSU (B)

  • Weapon Power Damage Ratio
    • 30% → 45%
  • Crystal Power Damage Ratio
    • 70% → 90%

TSUKUYOMI (C)

  • Cooldown Increased
    • 60 / 50 / 40 → 80 / 70 / 60

OZO

CARNIE LUCK (PERK)

  • Healing Amplification
    • 10% – 25% → 15% – 30% (Levels 1-12)

Petal has been out of the meta for a while, so we’re giving her some time in the sun. This change is geared towards making her a more utility oriented carry and making it easier to keep her munions alive at all times.

  • Petal’s Munions can no longer be marked with Miho’s Keen Eye

BRAMBLEBOOM SEEDS (A)

  • Pet Health Crystal Power Ratio
    • 65% → 70%
  • Pet Defense Crystal Power Ratio

SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION (C)

  • Heal Crystal Power Ratio
    • 60% → 75%

We’re leaning into Phinn’s role as the captain you want to huddle around for safety by increasing the amount of fortified life that he provides.

PHINN

POLITE COMPANY (B)

  • Fortified Health Scaling
    • 4% → 5% of Phinn’s bonus health
    • 15% → 18% of Phinn’s bonus armor and shield

Rona is a berserker that has a hard time… well, berserking. We’re making it so that Red Mist now is unstoppable and making it so that the correct play is to run away when you see her angry.

  • Cooldown Increased
    • 6s → 10s at all ranks 
  • Rona is now immune from movement impairing effects while spinning
  • Self Slow Increased
    • 10% → 15%
  • Fortified Life Per Second Decreased
    • 100 / 200 / 300 → 50 / 100 / 150

Tiger’s Bridge into Divine Fist combo was nearly guaranteed, making his laning phase very powerful. This should make his combo more unreliable at lower levels as well as make players choose which overdrive they want to take first.

SAN FENG

TIGER’S BRIDGE (A)

    • 1.2s / 1.2s / 1.2s / 1.2s / 1.2s → 0.8s / 0.9s / 1.0s / 1.1s / 1.2s

SAW is receiving some small quality of life changes that should make playing him feel smoother overall.

    • 0.12 → 0.10

SUPPRESSING FIRE (B)

  • Ability can now be canceled by pressing the (B) button again

MAD CANNON (C)

  • Crystal Power Damage Ratio
    • 140% → 150%

SILVERNAIL

CAUSTIC BLESSING (B)

  • No longer deals reduced damage to minions

This change fixes a bug that was being abused that stopped heroes from walking towards Tony if they hit recall. 

TONY

TRASH TALK (B)

  • Bug fix – Players can no longer use recall while taunted

 


ITEMS


BOOTS

 

Boots have become an item that too frequently saves people from bad positioning, both during team fights and in the laning phase. We’re hitting the sprint active on the following boots.

 

SPRINT BOOTS

  • Sprint Speed Boost

PIERCING

 

Armor piercing has been too strong on weapon items and tension bow specifically, which makes building armor feel less rewarding. We’re decreasing the overall pierce that the weapon tree has while also making Bonesaw a much better option in longer engagements.

TALENTS

 


It was time to touch the talents, so we’ve made some tweaks with our brawl players in mind. These changes are mostly targeted towards buffing talents that were rarely used as well as adjusting some of the more oppressive ones. 

 

ADAGIO

HEALING VERSE (LEGENDARY)

  • Cooldown Modifier
    • 55% – 7.5% per level → 80% – 10% per level

 

ARDAN

HEAVY HITTER (EPIC)

  • Range Reduction
    • 5.0 → 2.0

 

CELESTE

YOUNG STAR (RARE)

  • Removed additional duration of stars
  • Impact Damage Modifier
    • 30% + 1% per level → 60% + 1% per level
  • Burn Damage Per Second
    • 70% + 2.5% per level → 70% + 5% per level

GALAXY COLLAPSE (LEGENDARY)

  • New Bonus Added: Stars now remain on the field for an additional 6.0 seconds.

 

FORTRESS
